Step 1 - Define your world
You need to set up the universe you are positioning yourself in so that you can have a market share and selling digital distribution that is rebased on your study universe.
To do this, you need to go through the Market Definition sheet which allows you to do this by selecting the filters for the universe you wish to track. If you don't have a particular filter to apply, choose the market as your universe anyway. Your market share will not change, but your digital selling distribution will only cover pharmacies that sell at least one product in your market and not all products sold in pharmacies.
Step 2 - Your market share in the universe
With the Market Analysis sheet you know your market share, in value or volume, over your study period in the N MS column of the Market Evolution Details object.
Step 3 - Your rebased selling digital distribution
In the Advanced Indicators Analysis sheet you know your rebased selling digital distribution on your universe and study period in the N Rebased ND column of the Advanced Indicators Detail object.
Step 4 - Calculate your estimated market share holder
.
The holder market share estimate is then the ratio of your market share to the rebased selling digital distribution.
It expresses your restricted market share to pharmacies that sell at least one product from your universe and could be phrased as follows:
N MS Holder = N MS / N Rebased ND
Example
The universe you have selected in Market Definition is your market, meaning that you study only pharmacies that sell at least one product from your market.
You also have the option of restricting your universe to one universe.
Your market share by value (N MS) is 2.5%
Over the study period, you achieve 2.5% of market value sales.
Your rebased selling digital distribution (N Rebased ND) is 25.0%.
Over the same period, your products are sold in 25% of pharmacies that sell at least one product from your market.
The estimate of your market share holder (N MS Holder) is your focus on your customers only, amounting to a focus on the 25% of pharmacies that sell your products in the market and can be calculated as follows:
N MS Holder = N MS / N Rebased ND
N MS Holder = 2.5% / 25.0%
N MS Holder = 10.0%
Your estimated market share value holder is 10%.
You make 2.5% of your market's value sales, but 10% of your market's value sales to your customers.
