Definition

The average renewal time defines the average time observed, from the start of the history to the end of the analysis period, between two deliveries of the same treatment.

The average renewal time corresponds to the sum of the time between two deliveries of the same treatment divided by the number of renewals (or dispensation -1).

It is then a question of taking the average of the average renewal times.

Example

A patient goes to the pharmacy 3 times to dispense treatment A:

  • 01/06/2019

  • 07/01/2019

  • 08/01/2019

The average renewal time for this patient is 30.5 days

  • (08/01/2019 - 06/01/2019) / 2
